From Student to Teacher and Yoga Therapist

It was curiosity that first brought me to experience yoga. It is healing and wellness that inspire me to offer the practice to others today. My yoga practice began in college. As a non-athletic, artsy student, I chose yoga to fulfill a general fitness requirement. With significant pain at the time due to a type of Rheumatoid arthritis affecting my spine, practicing Hatha yoga alleviated a good portion of the pain. After several years, my back pain alleviated and I continued to practice yoga through various life phases.

Over the last ten years, in an effort to heal upper back and neck pain, I returned to yoga intensely, taking many hot, power, and vinyasa yoga classes.  The bits and pieces of wisdom teachings offered in group classes inspired me to discover more about the spiritual foundations of the physical practice.  Eventually, the scattered breadcrumbs of knowledge led me to The Satya School of Yoga teacher training.

Just as I completed the teacher training, a spot opened to teach yoga in my hometown.  I put myself out there and have been teaching yoga consistently ever since. That was about six years ago.  Since then I became a 500 hour registered yoga teacher, earning the advanced teacher designation.  Now I teach online to small groups, some of whom have been practicing with me since I taught my first class.

Learning and teaching are inextricably connected for me.  Fueled by curiosity, I continuously study yoga. The more I learn, the more I share with my students.  The immediacy and profound impact of the teachings touch my heart, inspiring me to expand the universe of people receiving yoga’s immense benefits.  It is my honor to share these revered teachings with all those drawn to yoga.

Om, shanti, shanti, shanti.
